We are all about Impact and working on the world’s biggest challenges. We believe that designers need to be responsible for the “last mile” of design. We are educating the next generation of designers and leaders who will innovate and implement, and funding the next generation of researchers who will generate novel solutions to the complex problems facing our society and our planet.

Here you will find everything you need to know about Stanford’s new two-year Master of Science, Design Impact degree. We work together on big, thematic problems. For the classes of 2019 – 2022, our Design Impact themes will be:

Empowering Power

Giving people control of their own energy resources

Empathic Autonomy

Personalizing healthcare in the digital age

Upcoming Events

Info Sessions in the Boston, MA (11/04/19) & Chicago, IL (11/11/19) areas

Students will select one of these two themes to bring inspiration and focus to their work throughout the program. In the summer of 2020, we will hold a Design Impact Symposium to celebrate our progress with the two themes, along with related work of others.

If you are excited about the opportunity to impact healthcare and energy, and are already able to demonstrate your ability to work on challenging problems, you should be working with us. Read our Mission Statement to learn more about the program’s core values.

We will begin accepting applications in mid-September 2019 for the Class of 2022 (Autumn Qtr 2020 start).
